YOU WANT TO BE A LEADER? THEN, TRAVEL!

Do you really want to be a better leader at your work place? You better get some quality experiences travelling around the world on your resumé to get along with the highly rated schools, remarkable internships and fantastic references.

In the time past successful young people travelled round the continents and it’s a practice that lives on in Commonwealth countries where young men and women take a year break between high school and college. Travelling makes you feel like you are in a whole other world, different food, different people and different religion.

Travelling also gives anyone who aspires to be a leader at work a common relationship and allows people to connect over memories. Travelling is a very useful and great networking tool.  Travelling puts you in situations where you may find it difficult to speak the language. Here we are not just talking about the verbal communication, we mean all forms of communications.  Ability to communicate despite language difficulties will be a very great asset especially if you have a global company or work for a global organization. Travelling around with a friend or colleague at work can be the crucial test of relationship but it teaches negotiation, understanding, partnership and cooperation, all of these are good business skills.

Travelling around the globe helps you know more about different cultures and social norms aside from what you have learnt from reading books and the internet, you would have the advantage of the seeing how it is done firsthand and, that helps you to understand more about a particular culture. Moving around the world has become a valuable knowledge as the global market has gone mobile and we relate and work with people all over the world.  Travelling around the globe give you cultural awareness.

Thinking outside the box, travelling let you think and look beyond your territory. Travelling will create that willingness for you to explore new and modern opportunities and you can be rest assured that you will definitely get the inspiration you need by a different atmosphere.

Travelling is also all about decisions making and living with its consequences. It means considering the advantages and disadvantages, identifying goals and making a path to achieve the identified goals. We do not need to dwell more on how important decision making is in becoming a successful leader, do we?

Travelling teaches aspiring or successful leaders to be continually aware and be able to crack any unforeseen problems that might occur like a fire disaster or a missing last penny. When these skills are transferred to the workforce. Travelling around the globe teaches you more on how to solve problems in different ways due to the exposure you must have acquired.

Travelling teaches you more on how to deal with some people. Some cranky agents to the flight attendant trying to work on his last nerve because of stress, you may run into individual not having a good day. Learning how to manage such people is one of the most important skills you can acquire to improve your leadership career.
